What happens to commissions in budget-lock?

How are advertisers in 2Performant categorized based on the commission payment method: Pre-paid and Post-paid?

Based on how they choose to pay commissions, advertisers in 2Performant are divided into two categories: Pre-paid and Post-paid.

Post-paid

Post-paid advertisers pay commissions after they have been accepted. There is a pending period for processing commissions, followed by a payment period for the accepted ones.

Commissions generated last month will appear on the current month’s invoice and will be paid by the beginning of the next month. For example, a commission accepted on June 15 will appear on the July invoice and will be paid by the end of the month. Advertisers have 10 days to pay an invoice, followed by a 20-day notice period.

Some advertisers, wanting to pay affiliates faster, choose a higher billing frequency: biweekly or even weekly, which means commissions are paid sooner. Below you can find the list of advertisers in 2Performant who choose this option:

Pre-paid

Pre-paid advertisers fund an account within the platform with a certain amount of money before launching their affiliate program. Commissions will be paid from this balance. If the account balance gets low, we will send notifications prompting the advertiser to top up. If the balance reaches zero, the affiliate program will enter budget-lock status until new funds are added.

Budget-lock – When an advertiser is in budget-lock status, their affiliate program is temporarily suspended and no longer receives traffic from affiliates.

If the funds in a pre-paid advertiser’s account run out and they enter budget-lock, commissions can still be generated from traffic sent before the lock. These commissions will be stored in the platform with the status budget-lock commission and will be honored as soon as the account is funded again.

We introduced this measure to support affiliates. Previously, when the “budget-lock commission” status didn’t exist, all commissions generated during this period were not recorded at all.
